Seven species of red algae from the waters of eastern Long Island, New York were analyzed for their sterol content. The species studied were: Agardhiella tenera, Ahnfeltia plicata, Chondrus crispus, Corallina officinalis^Cystoclonium purpureum var. cirrhosum, Gracilaria foliifera, und Palmaria palmata.
